National and State Scholarships
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
All Scholars will be required to participate in a College Success Program throughout their senior year of high school. The main goal of the College Success Program is to support Scholars throughout the college admissions process and prepare them to thrive during their first year of college and beyond.
Our Scholar Services Coordinators will facilitate the College Success Program, and we will focus on the following topics throughout the program:
- School Selection
- Getting Into College
- FAFSA
- Making a Decision & Academics In College
- Scholarship Search & Time Management
- Paying for College & Personal Financial Literacy
- Career Exploration
- Decision Day & Getting Involved
- Personal Wellness
TIME COMMITMENT
The College Success Program will begin with one mandatory orientation Zoom meeting in August. Our team will offer multiple orientation sessions. All awarded Scholars will need to register for and attend one of these orientation sessions.
After orientation, all Scholars will be placed into a College Success Program Learning Cohort and assigned a Cohort Coordinator who will facilitate monthly learning opportunities and work with scholars to complete required online learning modules and attend required meetings.
Scholars are expected to commit 5 hours per month to this program. This program will traditionally run from August to the following May.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
If you are awarded and accept the Horatio Alger Scholarship, you will agree to complete the College Success Program (CSP). No exemptions are offered for any portion of the College Success Program. In order to receive your funding, you must complete the College Success Program by all given due dates.
